My day starts at 5.30 a.m. almost every day and I don’t rest until 11 p.m. I am a full time mom of a toddler, a full time blogger and a full time house maker. Often, I have been asked how do I manage to sustain my energy all day and look fresh and vibrant at the same time? Today I decided to answer this question and share the secret ingredients of my energy level and activities.
I conducted some experiments on myself last year and here are the results:
Week1– I did not exercise at all and ate white carbs (white rice, white flour), oily and fried food, and also ate out almost every day. The result was that I was lethargic, uninterested in any activity, gained weight, slept for almost 12 hours and I was always tired. My appetite also increased.
Week2– I exercised every morning but continued eating white carbs, oily food and at restaurants. In the morning after my exercise I felt rejuvenated but by the middle of the day I would again feel uneasy and lethargic. I felt tired and bloated. I was still not happy with the outcome as I was trying the easier way out to sustain energy.
Week3– I ate healthy (combination of protein, good carb and good fats), I ate at regular intervals and ate lots of fruits and veggies. I cooked at home every day but I did not exercise. The outcome was better than the previous weeks. I was little more energetic, did not feel bloated and felt lighter. And to my surprise lost few pounds! I felt fresher, more creative and mentally active. I wanted to be part of everything and I felt happy. But again, something was still missing because by evening I would start to drain out and feel tired. I sometimes craved for calorie loaded desserts and fried food.
Week4– That whole week I started my day with a healthy and light breakfast. After few hours exercised and drank smoothie to recover from my workout. I followed a healthy routine by eating regularly and healthy, I stayed active, exercised every day, cooked mostly at home, indulged in fresh veggies and fruits. I made sure my diet included protein, good carbs (like: quinoa, whole grains, whole wheat etc.), good fats (like: avocadoes, bananas, olive oil, coconut oil etc.). The outcome was unbelievable and made me the happiest person. I was energetic all day, my skin glowed more, I was super active all day, my creativity came back to me, I lost tons of pounds, and most importantly I was happy and confident.
My Secret ingredient for unlimited energy is healthy lifestyle. I exercise every day in the morning but I never exercise in an empty stomach; I always eat a light and healthy breakfast. After this I give a gap of couple of hours and then exercise focusing on all my body parts. Then I drink homemade fresh smoothie for my midmorning snack. Then I eat healthy lunch which consists of a combination of protein, green veggies and whole grain carbs. In the evening I again snack on nuts, cucumbers, carrots with hummus. I eat a healthy dinner and try to get a good sleep. I make sure that I keep myself hydrated and try to include antioxidant- rich foods in my diet. During the day I try to stay active and sometimes when I get some time for myself I prefer to walk and catch up with my physical activity. The extra walk boosts my energy for the rest of the day and also helps me to be more creative.
